It doesn‘t always have to be the hands that induce a soothing effect during massages. In singing bowl massage, tones and vibrations provide the harmony.
Healing with vibrations and sounds, coming to rest, recharging your batteries – this is an ancient knowledge and it was already applied some 5,000 years ago in India and Tibet. At that time, people firmly believed in finding a holistic approach to human beings by using singing bowls, in touching body and soul, and in ensuring harmony and health there!
This traditional knowledge has gained in importance in recent years and is increasingly offered in wellness treatments.
Experts describe the effect by using a simple image: it works like a stone falling into a pond. It creates concentric waves that reach to the shore. This movement comprises every single water molecule. The effect is similar in a human body, which is about 80 percent water. The vibrations of singing bowl massage set it gently in motion and the body is practically massaged internally.
Vibrating on a monochord table
The healing effects of sounds on humans were also explored in ancient Greece. Based on the findings of Pythagoras (musicologist and physician) the monochord was developed – the precursor of today‘s monochord table. This involves a resonating body made of wood, which is strung with a series of strings under the surface you lie on. In this application, the guest lies on the monochord table while the therapist makes the strings vibrate by striking them. The vibrations which are set off this way are transmitted to the entire body and reach every single cell. By using this form of sound therapy, it is also possible to detect disharmony, resolve tensions and promote harmony and well-being.
During the massage, several singing bowls are set
on the guest, who is lying down, and they are made to chime. These fine vibrations create a soothing sense of relaxation and intense body awareness. Sounds can touch deeply and cause reactions that are unexpected and liberating at the same time.
They call up deep emotions and can make us laugh or cry.
In this state, physical and mental blockages can be resolved. It creates a feeling of letting go; all tension drops away. The muscles are relaxed and the sound waves have a calming effect on breathing, the heart and the nervous system.
Neurobiologists believe that sounds that are perceived as harmonious stimulate the cells in a positive way. They touch the human being on a deep, harmonious level, leading him into a quiet space where he can relax and regain his strength – in total harmony with himself.
